Using different materials to distort our perception of form, colour and texture

Exploring materials

Using soft materials to create a spiky surface
Seeking Discomfort
The starting point of exploration was looking at our senses and how they are affected in a space by colour, form and texture. I began to investigate textures and as I extended my knowledge of our sense of touch and it’s abilities I wanted to really test what I could do. How would people react to unusual and unfamiliar textures? Our sense of touch has extraordinary capabilities to recognise an object even without looking. So I played with spikey forms, a form that we see as dangerous and mixed them with different textures. Manipulating how we interacted with the textures. Are they soft or are they sharp?
