Taithi is a washing area for people living in the later stages of Dementia to empower them to take a greater role in their own care. When diagnosed with Dementia is it important to keep active. Brain stimulation is one way to keep your mind active. Through our research we felt that sensory stimulation was one of the most beneficial ways to encourage people living with Dementia to carry out their daily routine. To create a way to help them maintain their independence for as long as possible.
Taithi creates a personal experience that stimulates the mind and senses, through colour, scent and texture. The washing table can enable an independent self care process but can also involve the carer and can be an enjoyable experience for both. Guidance is provided but what you do is completely up to you.
Taithi believes that those with Dementia should never feel like they are doing anything wrong or be disheartened for forgetting but to feel happy that they can experience things in a new way.
